The Masked Singer Season 9 returned on Wednesday night for an ABBA-themed episode, as reigning champion Medusa took on two new competitors for a chance to move on. Tonight’s episode featured a talent show crossover, as America’s Got Talent judge Howie Mandel was revealed to be Rock Lobster. Meanwhile, Night Owl was unmasked as pop icon Debbie Gisbon.

The Masked Singer‘s Rock Lobster Unmasked as Howie Mandel
Rock Lobster teased that he had been in movies and TV shows, and that people watched him dance on the daily. He took the stage to sing a rendition of ABBA’s song “SOS.” His funny personality had everyone smiling. Celebrity guest Shangela also appeared on stage to present a gavel as a clue.
At the end of the night, Rock Lobster didn’t earn enough votes from the audience to go to the Battle Royale, so he was eliminated. Guesses from the panel about his identity included Steve-O and Martin Short. However, only Ken Jeong was (surprisingly) correct that it was Howie Mandel.
Mandel had a reunion with host Nick Cannon, who used to host AGT. He joked that people seem to like it when he dances on TikTok, so he thought he would try performing on the Masked Singer stage.

Medusa Moves on to Next Week’s Show
This week, Medusa went up against Night Owl in the Battle Royale. Night Owl’s solo performance was a rendition of ABBA’s “Fernando.” She later performed “Winner Takes It All” in her own style against Medusa for a shot to be in next week’s show.
The panel chose not to use the “Ding Dong, Keep It On” Bell this week, instead eliminating Night Owl from the competition and sending Medusa to next week’s episode, which will be themed to New York. Guesses about Night Owl’s identity included Sarah Jessica Parker and Kylie Minogue.
However, only Jenny McCarthy was correct in guessing that it was pop star Debbie Gibson under the mask. Gibson shared that she got the text to do the show just a day earlier after someone else got sick. The judges were impressed by what a great performance she gave with such short notice.
