Veteran producer Andrew Form, who is behind hit film franchises “A Quiet Place” and “The Purge,” has signed a producing deal with Sony Pictures’ Screen Gems.
While Form can’t reveal just yet what projects he’s pursuing with Screen Gems, he tells Variety that he continues to feel most comfortable in the horror, thriller and sci-fi spaces. That should come as no surprise to those familiar with his work: Form’s credits, which largely fit within those genres, have collectively grossed over $3 billion.
He produced all three films in the “A Quiet Place” franchise, which has grossed more than $850 million worldwide. The most recent film, “A Quiet Place: Day One” landed the biggest debut in the franchise, while the first film was nominated for an Academy Award and earned Form and his fellow producers a PGA nomination.

Along with Michael Bay and Brad Fuller, Form co-founded Platinum Dunes, which was behind hits including “The Purge” franchise, which has earned $550 million worldwide, the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” franchise, reboots of “Texas Chainsaw Massacre,” “Nightmare on Elm Street,” “Friday the 13th” and “The Amityville Horror” and the adaptation “Ouija.” Form recently produced the feature film “If” alongside John Krasinski, Ryan Reynolds and Allyson Seeger.

On the television side, Form is behind Amazon’s hit TV series “Jack Ryan” and “The Purge” TV series on USA. He also produced “Black Sails” for Starz and “The Last Ship” for TNT. Form got his start working as Jerry Bruckheimer’s assistant in 1992, working on films such as “The Ref,” “Bad Boys,” “Crimson Tide,” “Dangerous Minds” and “The Rock.”
Form credits Screen Gems president Ashley Brucks with catalyzing the new deal, citing their “unbelievable working relationship” collaborating on the “Quiet Place” franchise. “When she went over to Screen Gems and took that position, I was instantly talking to her about what she was going to be doing over there. I always loved the Screen Gems label. And I was like, ‘Oh my God, this is an amazing opportunity! You want to make the types of movies that I love: the sci-fi, the thriller, the horror, the action, that all fit under this label perfectly.'”
Brucks is similarly effusive, saying of Form, “After previously working with Drew, I experienced directly what a fantastic, hands-on producer and great partner he is. He has amazing versatility in developing high quality, commercial and fun genre films like ‘A Quiet Place,’ ‘The Purge’ and ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre,’ which makes him the perfect complement to our team at Screen Gems. I couldn’t be more excited to continue collaborating with him.”
Before his work at Screen Gems begins, the Form-produced “Apartment 7A” starring Julia Garner hits Paramount+ on Sept. 27. “Just being able to work in the IP of ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ and telling the story of Terry Gionoffrio right before ‘Rosemary’ starts was so amazing,” Form says of the upcoming horror prequel.
As for the future, Form says hje’s most excited to get back to work on a lot, which feels like a full-circle moment from his career beginnings. “One of the first places I ever worked in the entertainment business was on the Sony lot, when I was Jerry Bruckheimer’s assistant. The editing for ‘Bad Boys’ was on that lot, so I was walking around with my eyes wide open.” Now, he’ll have offices on that very lot, this time as a producer in his own right.
“Many, many, many years later, I’m back on the lot, and I’m actually working with this company. You can’t imagine how excited I am.”
Form is repped by WME and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.
